Happy Hour!
What does this picture tell you?
- That I play the Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game City of Heroes
- That one of my characters in the game is a female Superhero.
- That it is Happy Hour in Paragon City! Woop! Woop! Woop!
I hope there are plenty of other missions like this. Sometimes being able to take a silly screenshot like the one above is enough of a reward.

I have excellent taste in entertainment software
1up.com has finished their Essential 50 Archive: a list of the most important video games ever made. It is an exstensive selection ranging all the way back to Spacewars back in 1962. Crazy!
By my count I've played 40 of the games listed there; 41 if you count The Macintosh as a "game" ... which they did so I guess it is a solid 41. Such a high count makes the gamer geek in me feel all warm and tingly inside, like when you pull off the 99 lives trick in Super Mario Brothers. Come on, everyone know's how to do that one ... but don't get too many lives or else you'll reset the counter back to 0.

I swear there's nothing wrong with me
Why why why? Why must GTA: San Andreas come out on PS2 first? I don't have a PS2. I won't be getting a PS2 any time soon. This of course means I won't be playing this any time soon. Now how am I supposed to get my fix of carjacking and drive by shooting? Umm ... legaly of course.
At least Evil Genius can tide me over for the time being. Any game based on playing a Bond Villian bent on taking over the world gets a gold star from me. It comes complete with colourful henchmen and exotic torture devices you can use on those pesky secret agents that try to infiltate your base. If they had sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads I'd be in heaven.
But right now I'm working my way through Knights of the Old Republic. Mmm Jedi goodness all rapped up in a Star Wars D20 combat system. It makes the geek in me drool with delight. Currently my character is following the goody-two-shoes path of the Light Side, but man am I itching to create a dark Sith Lord. Enough talk, lets kick some wookie arse!
Excuse me while I practice my evil gloating laugh. Muwahahaha!

A,K,A, What almost made me late for work
The game of choice on my PC lately would be Far Cry. The game play in this first-person shooter boasts a very intelligent AI that adapts to your game style. If you want to sneak around the jungle picking off the bad guys one by one you can. If running into the enemy camp with guns blazing is more your forte the game will let you do that as well.
The ambiance of the game is also quite engrossing. The graphics are all quite life like and very vivid. On this island paradise you'll see crystal clear water washing up on a white sand beach. The jungles are dense with undergrowth, each bush and each leaf individually rendered making it so lifelike. In there lies the inherent problem with the game: to get it to look spectacular you better have a top of the line PC. This is the only game I have so far that pushes my Radeon 9800 Pro to the limit, but it is well worth it.
So if you have computer specs to support it, I would highly recommend picking up a copy of Far Cry today. If anything just try the demo or watch the trailer. The geeky gamer in you will thank me.
