The show applies to everything ...

I love the way fluxblog describes Gwen Stefani's new solo album and how the critics are reacting to it.

In other words, Gwen Stefani is playing the Veronica/Cordelia Chase role, whereas most music critics (who are predominately dorky whitebread Archie/Xander Harris types) would very much prefer their pop stars to be more like Betty or Willow Rosenberg - outwardly insecure, working class, girl-next-door types who are non-threatening, nerdy, and maybe just a little bit gay.

Kudos Matthew. Kudos to you.

Song of the Day - "Side Away" by Oasis

Probably my favourite song off their debut album. It could have easily been released as a chart topping single, and a fan favourite whenever they play it live. I've come to re-appreciate it again after watching the most excellent Definitely Maybe DVD. If you're an Oasis fan I highly recommend getting your grubby mitts on this one. Plenty of live performances, great stories from behind the scenes and tomfoolery abound between the Gallagher brothers.

Much obliged to the pretty lady that picked this up for me.

On the road again

Last Friday I drove:

That's one full circut around the city and then some. Wow. I realize now I should have taken the 400 down to the 401 and then 410 on the way back home to complete the entire 400 series of highways.

Zoinks!

It means fan-made Manga

What would you get if you took all your favourite cartoon characters from the past few years, and rolled them up into one big ball of Manga Madness? PowerPuff Girls Doujinshi of course!

Half the fun is checking out the next page and running into a character off The Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon. I don't want to spoil the suprises for you so you better just start from the beginning and work you way through.

Enjoy! I'm pretty sure Graig will approve.

Can't blog. Watching.

Pardon me.

I purchased seasons 3 and 4 of Buffy for a steal. I have a lot of slayer and witch oogling to do.

Yes I know season 7 just came out, but all in due time.

Errr, argh!

I don't blame her

Maria's Adventures in Downtown Toronto is turning into Adventures in Horrible Dating. She has scrapped three from the bottom of the barrel and has asked you, the faithful reader, to pick which one is the worst of the worst. You can choose from:

I'm leaning towards the "4 minute wonder" myself.

We Remember

Tomorrow is Remembrance Day in Canada. I feel one of the best ways to honour our veterans and their fallen brothers and sisters is to learn. Everyone should at least take the time out to crack open a history book and look up what we should be Remembering tomorrow.

In that spirit, here are a few links to help you remember. A lot of sacrifices were made by thousands of brave Canadians during those wars. The least you can do is sacrifice a bit of time to learn about it.

What I didn't do this weekend

I could say the world conspires against me, but that's just a little over the top. This would be the third year in a row I've missed out on one of Joey's birthday extravaganza. The third time where all my intentions of going were shot down by one thing or another.

Two years ago I had to study for a midterm. You can't argue with that.

Last year a nasty cough had kept me away. It was the same cough that stuck around for a good month and took a bottle and a half of Buckley's to kick. I missed a hot tub on a truck for that cough ... a hot tub on wheels!

So when I started coughing heavily Saturday afternoon I began to worry. I had just helped Liz move into her new place with 3 cats and 2 dogs. My allergies decided to kick in during the move which in turn brought on the worrisome cough of doom.

What else could I do? I turned to my trusty old bottle of Buckley's cough syrup and kicked back two spoons of the tasty stuff after dinner. By the time I arrive at the party the medicine should take effect and I'll be cough free for the rest of the night. A perfect plan if I do say so myself.

I woke up at 10:30, groggy, disoriented, and feeling downright awful. I knew my plans had all gone to heck. No way was I going to drive downtown in that state. Conceding defeat and went back to bed, missing yet another one of Joey's spectacular events. From what I've heard, this one was doozy.

But why the stuff had hit me so hard is still a mystery to me. Thinking back it might have had to do with the allergy medicine I had taken earlier but who knows for sure. I just have to keep away from tests, sickness and medicines next year.

The world has better things to do then to conspire to keep me away from a birthday party. But regardless, Happy Birthday Joey, and congratulations to you and Wendy on your engagement.

Nothing to see here

Just some small tidbits about our site. While in the process of redesigning Liz's website I tinkered with some drop down menus. The results are these nifty archive forms for both Kristine and myself. Granted other sites have been there, done that, but I still think they're neat-o.

We've also been fighting the good fight against comment spam. At first we were cleaning out the backlog manualy but that soon got out of hand. Now we're using a combination of MT Blacklist and MT CloseComments to nip that unwanted processed meat product in the bud. You should check them out, they've done wonders for our little site.

Yes yes, a boring post, but some people actualy get off on learning all this back-end stuff. I'm not sure who but they do.

Song of the Day - "The Doom Song" by Gir

The reasoning behind the selection of this song is two fold:

  1. I have been watching episodes of Invader Zim non stop for four days now. I love-ded that piggy, and I love-ded Emma and Graig for lending me the DVD sets.
  2. You simply must sing The Doom Song prior to a period of impending doom. As of yesterday it looks like it is going to be at least four years of doom at best.

Doom doom doom doom doom doom doom.
