Black Cherry Redux
Yes I've been tweaking the Black Cherry layout. Press relaod a couple of times or clear your cache to get the full picture.
And just incase you have no idea what I'm talking about, this site has several skins you can apply to the layout. I hope you've managed to find one to your liking but I'd always welcome any requests or suggestions.
The original plans for this site called for the ability to apply independant skins to either side of the webpage. You could have Kris's side in Lime while my side could sport Chocolate. You would be able to mix and match till your heart's content.
... cool? Hell yeah! Possible? Well ... let me get back to you on that.

The one (drink) that got away
I tried to give up caffeine a long time ago, with only a few relapses to speak of. Yesterday was one of those moments of weakness. I had drawn the morning shift that day and by mid afternoon I had caught myself falling asleep while on the phone.
Drastic times called for drastic measures. I walked into Starbucks with a purpose. I gave the menu board a glance of habit but I already knew what I wanted that day. I walked up to the counter ready to play my cards, but I chicken out when the chips were down. The gaze of the cute Bartista is all seeing and I lacked the courage that day to reveal my true hearts desire.
As I walked away, frosty beverage in hand, I could only think of one thing: "An Orange Mocha Frappucchino would have tasted so much better!"
Damned right it would. J-j-j-jitterbug!

Turn this off.
I'm sick. Sick of sitting in front of this computer day in and day out.
I go to work and stare into a monitor. I take a lunch break and compose correspondence with a keyboard. I head home and use a mouse to manipulate HTML. Day in and day out I was plugged into the Internet and I just couldn't take it anymore.
After this experience I reverted back into my old routine of TV and Computers to easily. Now I find that I want to get away from it again, like I'm missing out on something while I'm sitting in this chair. I don't want to give it up completely, but I am in some need of moderation and restraint.
Excuse me while I "unplug" for awhile.

This is about as political as this blog is going to get
Go play The Bush Game: The Anti-Bush Online Adventure Game. It is made by the same people that brought you The Emo Game you know and love.

They're in it. Darth Vader is in it. Heck Voltron is in it! What more do you need?!

An HTML Junkie's To-Do list.
- Finish setting up Liz with her new layout
- Set up CGI based gallery script on this site
- Install Movable Type, create a layout and set up a blog for Jason
- Make a "work safe" layout for www.com that looks like a plain old boring web page and not as eye catching as Black Cherry
- Sleep
Where am I ever going to find the time to play Farcry?! I assure you the gamer inside is crying right now.

I don a pair of zip up boots
What am I still doing up at 4:30 in the morning?
Why am I not tucked into my comfy bed, dreaming of rock stardom and a cute LA girl?
Why can't I stop listening to that song over and over and over and over again ...?!?
This is what happens when you give up caffeine 6 months ago and you decide to grab a late night iced mocha just to keep alert during the ride home.
Gididdy, gididdy, gididdy gah!

It's funny because it's true.
"Ha ha," they seem to mock. "My personal weblog is perfectly validated, with no warnings or errors! Therefore, I am better than you."
To which I say, "Shut up, you have a LiveJournal."
Genie-us I say, sheer brilliance!

Take me out
Franz Ferdy managed to make their way from LA to the good old TO yesterday. I had the pleasure of catching the show with the ever lovely Carla and the boys from Glasgow did not disappoint us. They put on an awesome live show full of kick arse rock dead on roll. Listening to their album afterwards I found it tame and almost boring ... lacking that energy oosed from the show; concert go-er's remorse I suppose.
I must tip my hat to Controller Controller and Sons and Daughters. Both were solid opening acts. CC was working the same vibe the had the last time I saw them: swaying back and forth in front of red stage lights while dressed all in black. It is a bit cliche but they pull it off really well. Sons and Daughters had a modern rock-a-billy kind of sound to them which had my toes tapping. They get bonus points for having the cute female "look at me, I don't care that I'm on stage" bassist. Rawr!
On a side note, we all have people that don't like us for some reason or another even though you have no beef against them at all. How the heck are you supposed to act when your thrust into a social situation with them? Yikes ... raise the being civil shields and fire all small talk banks.

That's why he's the Good Twin
All week my Good Twin has been featuring fellow bloggers on his photoblog. If you weren't keeping track I popped up earlier this week over here. Not the best photo in the world mind you but I blame the subject, not the photographer.
Kris also gets her time in the spotlight with this wonderful picture. It says volumes about her love for our little buggy friends.
Go on and ch-check it out. You know if I had that many photos of that many bloggers I'd use them as links to their websites instead of a list of names. Hmm ... a link gallery perhaps?

Don't swallow the pits!
There's a new skin in town and goes by the name of Black Cherry! Click on this link to switch to that skin, although for IE you may have to reload afterwards.
I have to tweak a few more things, and I'm not sure I like how the footers on each post look. Still this one turned out pretty nice if I do say so myself. What do you think?

Golf not Fun
"Are you here for the Golf or are you here for the Fun?" the old man asked with a sour look on his face. I was caught off guard and stood paused for a moment. Golf or Fun? I had no idea the two were mutually exclusive.
He asked the question again, this time putting emphasis on the two alternatives. "Are you here for the Golf or are you here for the Fun?" As far as he was concerned my co-workers and I were just children fooling around on his golf course; We were to be addressed as such.
Finally one of us managed to blurt out: "For Fun!" and the rest of us chimed in agreement. We had all taken that Friday off for the company's annual golf tournament. Of course we were here for the Fun, a Fun game of Golf!
"Good," replied the little man from his little cart. The official looked up at us as we stood there on the green of the 8th hole, but to me it felt as if he was glaring down at us with a disapproving look. "If that's the case would you mind skipping this hole and the next one as well? We're trying to keep this tournament going and there are four other Golf teams behind you"
Ah so that is what this is all about. That is why I had spotted him watching us every now and then. This sour old man had pegged our foursome for the inexperienced golfers that we were and our game was expendable. So what if we're doing our best and having Fun at the same time? We were encroaching on those people who were here for the Golf. As rookies we didn't know any better.
Still we agreed to his terms and headed back to our own golf carts. The official drove away with a smug look on his face, satisfied that he had one another battle for the better Golfer. My group drove off in the opposite direction, marking this hole and the next each as a birdie.
After all, we were only there for the Fun.

I'm allergic to them for a reason.
Start here and don't stop till you see the whites of their feline eyes. It's funny because it's true; Cat's are evil.
Don't you watch the movies?

It must be bunnies!
Rabbit Rabbit everyone!
Okay ... maybe not for Anyanka.
A quick thank you to my favourite american. I came home today to find not one but two new CDs waiting for me in the mailbox. For the next few days I'll be listening to "Absolution" by Muse and "You Forgot It In People" by Broken Social Scene. It is sweet ambrosia for the ears.
Here it is less then 3 weeks from her birthday and she's giving me gifts! You're the greatest Kris!
