You can call me Ghost
If I could choose to have any super power it would be a two fold choice.
- translucent the ability to allow light and energy to pass through me and through any material I come in contact with to a maximum of twice my body mass. I could control this to a varying degree ranging from my normal state all the way to total invisibility. These are the plain old powers of the Invisible Man.
- insubstantial the ability to allow molecules to pass through me and through any material I come in contact with to a maximum of twice my body mass. Again I could control this to a varying degree ranging from being completely solid to being able to pass through walls. Think Shadowcat from the X-men.
Each power is independent of each other, i.e.: I could be invisible but still be able to hold things or I could pass through walls but other people could see me. Together they would give me the attributes of a Phantom which I could use to scare evildoers in their tracks ... or sneak away with top secret government documents.
And just to be fair I've also attached limitations on each ability.
- If I am using a power I must use it on the entire targeted mass. I would not be able to just make my head invisible. On the same note if I attempted to use these powers on a mass outside of my given range they will not work at all.
- Since I'm allowing light and energy to pass through my body in my translucent state, this will also prevent me from seeing things as well. The more translucent I become the more I turn blind.
- In my insubstantial state I am allowing molecules to pass through me, which in turn would diminish my hearing. Again the more "phased" I become the less I can hear.
I think those are reasonable (not to mention somewhat scientifically justified) special abilities to have. Yes I have put an awful lot of thought into them. It's funny where the geek mind wanders from time to time.
What would your super powers be?

I'm too sexy for this train.
There is a balance to everything.
Take Little Miss Too-Hot-For-School. She struts into the Go train just before me. Sporting a tiny leather jacket zipped up just enough to show off the cleavage she's exposing under her button up shirt. Tight pinstriped slacks cut off just above her slinky stiletto heels; Her bleached blonde hair kept in just the right way to accent the grey contacts in her eyes.
I would say she's attractive but not strikingly beautiful. The problem is she carries herself like god's gift to men.
I watch her survey the rest of the train with a downard glance. She is not impressed and lets the slight pout on her face show it. Before I could step in the doors she strides over to the side and takes the only free seat left. I am not impressed and I let the slight pout on my face show it. I'm left standing in the aisle while she plays around with her cell phone.
For pete sake pick a fricking ring tone already!
But like I said there is a balance to everything. In this story between the Beauty and the Bitch the balance strikes just as I reach my stop. As I exit the train and head for home I leave Little Miss Too-Hot-For-School fast asleep in her seat ....
... Snoring like a donkey in heat.

Texting
Little known fact: You can send text messages to your friends for free! The only catch is that the receipient must subscribe to either the Bell or Rogers wireless networks. Both companies have online forms you can use at no cost to yourself. You can find the Bell one at
http://www.txt.bellmobility.ca/
and the Roger's form can be found at the not so elegant URL of
http://www.rogers.com/english/
wireless/sendpcs.html
Now you have no excuse not to message me via the Bell form. Well ... that is if you know my cell phone number. No internet stalkers please; Obsessive fixations over the internet are so 2003.
Update! Click the link below to see the rest.
Wootam! has pointed out that Telus also sports an online text message form. You can find that one at:
http://www.telusmobility.com/
sendamessage/sendamessage.shtml
Also after a bit of confusion on my part, Carla pointed out the Fido equivalent at:
http://www.fido.ca/portal/
home/quickMsg.jsp
That should cover all the major cellphone service providers in the GTA!

Return of the Self-Proclaimed Rock Star!
A true conversation that took place last night between Liz, Jason and yours truly. The scene: We were walking down John Street when we Liz noticed a flyer for 25dates.com.
Liz: Hey 25dates.com!
Jeremy: I thought you wanted to try that out.
Liz: I did but Jason won't go with me. Hey do you want to go?
Jeremy: Well I sort of can't go to those kind of things anymore.
Liz: Boo!
Jeremy:... but I suppose I could go just to watch your back.
Liz: Exactly! You don't have to say yes to anybody you meet there.
Jeremy: True ... but I can only break so many hearts in one night.
Jason: Oh gawd *keels over and gags*
He knows its true.

Honourable Mentions
While Miss Kris was in town she made quite a splash on the local blogging community. Check out what some of them had to say about our adventures in the T-Dot.
- Carla writes about our first weekend at The Drake Hotel.
- Both Joey and Graig chime in with their reviews of the CBC Radio 3 Connect The Dots Show.
- Rannie took a few pictures of our walk through Kensington Market
- Our day trip to Niagra Falls shows up in Carla's blog as well. Rannie continues the photo trend with some pictures of the Butterfly Conservatory.
- Thursday's GTAB Gathering was photographed by the ever lovely Ms. Vang.
- A slice of what happened that night also appears on Joey's site. Keep reading for the follow discussion on why "men. are. pussies".
- Finally Carla sums up Kristine's last night in Toronto ... last night this trip that is.

To The Movers Go The Spoils
When Toast and Marmalade needed help moving to their new apartment, the usual gang was quick to take action. While Graig, Rannie and Jay were there to do most of the heavy lifting, Emma and I managed to arrive for dinner, butter tarts and moral support.
I'd still like to think I managed to help in my own little way, and as a small reward I walked away with a set of Advanced Dungeon & Dragons books! Someone just equipped himself with a +5 Tome of Geekness and is simply loving it!
Graig also lent me his Supercade book "A visual history of the videogame age 1971-1984". Between this book and the previous ones I've got a reading list to make any self respecting Metrogeek giggle like a little school girl.
Watch me giggle! *tee-hee-hee*

Post Vacation Validation
Thanks for the vacation Kris, it was super spectacular! About the only thing wrong with you visit was that it had to end. That could be said about any holiday but in all honesty it is the truth.
There are stories to tell and pictures to see, but that will have to wait for another time. Right now I'm just trying to remember how to get back into the normal swing of things. How did I ever carry my cell phone around without Kris's boom box purse?!
.... It's always better on holidays.

Man cannot live off of paypal paid purchases alone!
Online cartoons have the best merchandise. Take the 1337 hoodie over at little gamers. My willpower alone is keeping me from whipping out a credit card and buying it right now.
I won't even get into the several shirts at Diesel Sweeties. Take a look at both pages there and I guarantee you'll pick out one to call your very own.
What brought on this sudden influx of webcomic products? Spotting good old Andrew sporting a Strong Bad T-shirt in the latest Angel episode. Watch out! Before you know it you'll be seeing 3vil l33t shirts on the OC.

Sherwood Praise
Can we all agree that Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves is one of the best movies of all time? It was one of the greatest movies of the early 90's. It is certainly the best rendition of the Robin Hood story on film, including Rocket Robin Hood from back in the day!
