This one is for the birds
When a bird flies against the wind does it know what it is doing? It floats there in one spot, never moving forward but never changing direction as well.
It could be that the bird doesn't realize what is going on. To the silly little ball of feathers that branch is farther away then it was yesterday. If it keeps its course it will get there eventually, nothing strange about it.
Perhaps its a matter of determination. This winged beast claims domain over all that is in the air. No simple breeze can deter its path or keep it from going where it desires.
But I'd like to think the bird knows exactly what it is doing. She knows she's not going anywhere and she doesn't care. To this bird it is not about the destination; It is about the sensation instead.
... simple effortless flight.

Spilt Milk
New skin! Alright so it isn't new new, but it is new to the whole "skins" thing. I took the first layout of tripledoubleyou.com and re-mixed it for this code. Take a look at it here. Mmmm, chocolate goodness!
More skins to come ...

Fonetics
In the Philippines there is no difference between fraternal and paternal twins.
I'll let someone else explain that one to you.

Discrimination in a Size Eleven.
When shopping for shoes always wear your best pair of dress shoes to the store. Shoe sales clerks are trained to use the quality of a customer's shoes to gage their sales potential. The fancier and more well kept your shoes are, the more friendly and courteous they will be.
Pedal profiling! Where will the injustice end?!?

Television Runaway
I firmly believe that limitation is the taskmaster of innovation. It may not be the best way to get your creative juices flowing, but constraint will always place hot coals under the feet of your muses. An academic career full of all-nighters to finish last minute projects is enough evidence for me.
That is why I am really enjoying TV Turn-Off Week. Not only have I decided not to watch TV for seven days I have also decided to stay away from the computer when I'm off work! Giving up the boob tube just to sit in front of my PC all day is not what they had in mind.
Only two days into it and I have already found myself doing things outside my ordinary routine. I've taken short walks through my neighbourhood and hit the trails with my mountain bike. I'm reading books, listening to music, sketching still life into a neglected scrapbook. My guitar hasn't see this much play since I decided to sing a song for my last girlfriend.
... why are these things not apart of my ordinary routine? There is something very wrong with me when a limitation is the only motivation I can find to do something creative and meaningful.

Unagi is the Shiznitz
Last night we gathered to celebrate Marmalade & Toast's 15th anniversary. While the Japanese food at Ematei was great as usual, the real story of the week is how sake does wonders for my perpetual nagging cough. I'm considering taking a warm thermos of that stuff to work just to help me get by.
We continued the Asian Invasion trend for the night and had some bubble tea at Ezone; Yes the place where you can order a fruity drink and have your haircut at the same time. The place has a lovely light show that occurs every time someone turns on one of their blenders. However between the shoddy (but cute) service and the five dollar per person minimum charge I don't think I'll be passing through their threshold anytime soon.
And that my friends is saying a lot. I am usually a sucker for cute waitress staff. Sucker with a capital "Sap".

Fishing for Hatemail
If I told all you cat lovers out there not click on this link I know you're not going to listen to me. So don't blame me when you do click on said link and ... well you'll see.
... or hopefully won't see.
Sadly my first reaction was to laugh but the more time I had to dwell on it, the more the contents of this link disturbed me. Thankfully most of my questions were answered at Snopes. A great site for clearing things up in general.
Don't click on this link! You've been warned.
Update: I've taken down the video at the end of said link because it is rather disturbing, especially for cat lovers like my left side over there. If you are really interested in what all the hub-bub is all about you can find the video off the Snopes.com ... but don't say I didn't warn you.

Plans in Point Form
Incase you are not in the know, my left half is going to be paying a visit to the fair city of Toronto in four weeks. I will have a week to show her what a good time in Hogtown is like, and I'm hoping a good time will include some of the following:
- Drinks with the GTAB gang, probably at Paupers or C'est What?
- A picnic on the Toronto Islands.
- The Sunday Night Retro thing at Joe.
- Watch the entire first season of Buffy ... possibly the second season as well.
- The Cardigans at Lee's Palace.
- Day trip to Niagara Falls
- Dinner on the top of the CN Tower
And that's just off the top of my head ... but can anyone else think of some things to do while in the T-Dot?

Ouch ouch ouch OUCH!
Woman gives herself a Caesarean
"She took three small glasses of hard liquor and, using a kitchen knife, sliced her abdomen in three attempts and delivered a male infant that breathed immediately and cried"
I accidentaly cut the tip of my finger off and I cry like a baby. Compared to this woman I'm a mushy pile of lemon jello ... no fruit salad mixed in just plain Jane jello.

Song of the Day - "Milkshake 'n Honey" by Sleater-Kinney
When converting your compact disc collection into MP3s, you're bound to find that forgotten jewel in the rough. It is that one tune you loved to listen to when you first bought album; Over time the song was lost in the shuffle of your ever growing library.
Milkshake 'n Honey by Sleater-Kinney (yes! They finally have a web site!) is exactly that song for me. It may not have the pop appeal of You're no Rock 'n Roll Fun or the guitar driven edge of Ironclad, but it does have this cool, smooth, sexy vibe going through it that you have to love.
I owe several cups of coffee to Kris for turning me on to SK. "I've always had a sweet tooth and that girl looks like a king-sized candy bar ..."

Narcississism*
I don't care what anyone says; I look good today. No, I look daa-yum good today and I like it.
(* The extra "iss" is for "I'm super sexy", rawr!)

TV-Turnoff Week
What happens during a seven-day experiment in life without TV? A whole new space to think emerges. You find yourself passing time in ways you never expected. And you start to wonder: when I reach for the remote, who is really in control?
Could I survive a week without television? My boob box schedule during the week is pretty slim, but missing out on Saturday morning cartoons? That might hurt.
Still there are times where the television becomes my crutch; A quick way to get that "entertainment" fix without having to work for it. So what if I could not fall back on it ... or my computer for that matter?
I have a sketchbook that has been horribly neglected these past few years. A guitar mopes in the corner of my room, lonely and dejected. There's also a bike in my garage just waiting to hit those back trails around my house.
The more I think about it, the more it sounds like a good idea. One week: no television; no DVDs; no Game Cubes, Game Boys or PCs.
I think I can do it.
