Song of the Day - "Rebellion (Lies)" by The Arcade Fire

The Arcade Fire's latest album Funeral made it to the top of several "Best of 2004" list in the Canadian blogsphere. Several of my friends sing the praises of their music, including a certain American girl blogging to the left of me.

Their songs have managed to get airplay on both The Edge and Chum, cutting across listening groups and music genres alike. Their live shows are the a thing of legend: some stories telling of life changing moments while other tales describing highly entertaining events. They are being set-up as the next and best thing coming out of Canada this year; the hype machine is in 6th gear and getting ready to hit the NO2.

Sometimes I worry the only reason I like The Arcade Fire is because I've been told to like them. But the fact that songs like Rebellion makes me want to get up an boogie, quickly bury those thoughts beneath a heap of fun.

Screw the hype and let me on the dance floor.
