Speaking of the Hype Machine

You're preaching to the choir brother, preaching to the choir.

Song of the Day - "Rebellion (Lies)" by The Arcade Fire
The Arcade Fire's latest album Funeral made it to the top of several "Best of 2004" list in the Canadian blogsphere. Several of my friends sing the praises of their music, including a certain American girl blogging to the left of me.
Their songs have managed to get airplay on both The Edge and Chum, cutting across listening groups and music genres alike. Their live shows are the a thing of legend: some stories telling of life changing moments while other tales describing highly entertaining events. They are being set-up as the next and best thing coming out of Canada this year; the hype machine is in 6th gear and getting ready to hit the NO2.
Sometimes I worry the only reason I like The Arcade Fire is because I've been told to like them. But the fact that songs like Rebellion makes me want to get up an boogie, quickly bury those thoughts beneath a heap of fun.
Screw the hype and let me on the dance floor.

iConsumer
I am a sucker for two things:
- Cute girls with British accents
- Accessories for techno-gadgets
While the former is pretty much a given for any male not born in Europe, the latter would be attributed to my inherent Metrogeek desires. It would explain why I am the proud owner of a Super Scope 6.
After purchasing an iPod mini two weeks ago it has taken all my willpower to stop myself from buying apple accessories for it. Oh look, in-ear headphones, surely I need the increased sound quality these provide. A docking station? Why yes, why have your new silver toy lie on the desk when it could stand up proud while it is charging.
Ever time I'd walk into a computer store I'd pick up at least one iPod related item on impulse only to talk myself out of it before I reached the cash register. My willpower for accessories may be weak, but the balance in my bank account is much more adamant.
Then I saw these babies. iSocks. Dang.
I bought a pack the first chance I had. Hey, I needed a case for my iPod anyway, and I'm giving half of them away as a belated birthday present.
Yeah ... I'm such a sucker.

Forty-Two
I am currently suffering from a slight flu. This puzzles me as I've managed to avoid getting sick all winter. Yet here I am, out of commission for the 2nd time in 3 weeks. Not fun.
In the meantime, please enjoy the rest of the interweb. I know there is something out there for you. Right now it just ain't on this side of the web page.
